Catching Elephant is a theme by Andy Taylor

We’ve covered ogres, demons, and dragons (oh my!) along with some key scenery pieces for Dragon Age: Dawn of the Seeker. Now let’s spend a little time getting to know the characters. First up, the star of the movie herself — Cassandra Pentaghast!

Some of you may be asking why we chose Cassandra as the main character for the story. If you watched our Production Update 01 video, you’ll hear Mike Laidlaw, Creative Director of Dragon Age at BioWare answer that question.

“It’s because it ties in with the themes that we’ve been building to. So, for us finding out her backstory, seeing how she rose to the prominence that she has gives us this completely new take on what’s happening both with her order and with the templars, and with that ongoing conflict that ties the whole Dragon Age universe together.”

How about spider guts?

 Bodhan is getting frustrated with some of the things I come home covered in. He has a good technique getting rid of most things (he’s especially good with blood removal), but spiders just seem to elude even his expertise.

He’s an exemplary brother.

I’m in dire need of clothes that are not armor. Something a bit more… feminine.

“Hmm.” Leliana tapped her chin with her fingertips, circling once around Cassandra to size her up.

“Do you mean formal wear, or just clothing you can wear without having to put padding underneath? There is a very nice dress shop not far from here.”

Cassandra shrugged her armored shoulders. “Nothing too formal, there are dresses for such occasions at the estate.” She thought about it for a moment longer. “The dress shop sounds lovely.” She started walking in one direction, looking around for the shop. “Forgive my ignorance of this district, I haven’t had much occasion to visit.”

Leliana smiled. “You’re heading in the right direction anyway.”

The dress shop was only a few storefronts away, and Leliana happily led the way. Inside, everything smelt of freshly cleaned linens and lavender. A rather plump middle-aged woman with rosy cheeks and high pitched voice greeted the armor-clad visitors enthusiastically. “Is there anything I can help you ladies find?”

Cassandra smiled at the sweet old woman before nodding in reply. “I need to find a nice, flattering dress for going about town. Might you have anything fitting that description?” She asked while browsing some of her wares.

Maker’s breath, that was supposed to be Andraste?

I spoke to him on one of my visits, he was very polite. He seemed very devout.

Ah, what exactly are we shopping for?

He’s an exemplary brother.

I’m in dire need of clothes that are not armor. Something a bit more… feminine.

Yes, the Chantry takes precedence over such petty matters as that for the moment. I’m sure by the time it’s fixed they’ll have found something new to worry about it.

As I believe I’ve told you once before once I came here I met Sebastian and we are to be wed as soon as we can reclaim Starkhaven. Did you know he was a prince? It’s all quite exciting. More recently I have been going on jobs that the Divine have sent me on.

Ah yes. I doubt this mess will even be cleared up before a new catastrophe strikes. C’est la vie.

I can’t believe you’re getting married! I will definitely have to meet this beau of yours. And he’s a prince? However did you meet him?

Not under the classiest of circumstances but we met at the Hanged Man not long after I arrived. I’m afraid I don’t remember most of the night. Maker damn that foul brew…

I’m sure he’d love to meet you. In fact, you may have already during your previous visits to Kirkwall. He used to reside in the Chantry.

Yes, I’ve heard horror stories about the way that ale used to be. I don’t envy you that experience.

If, he used to live in the Chantry, does that mean he’s a Brother as well?

Wait. Was he the one who was always there in armor?

Yes, that’s him! He also has an Andraste belt buckle. I take it you’ve met?

Thank you for meeting me on such short notice. It’s been a while,  how is Kirkwall treating you?

It’s been far better than expected, actually. I was worried about living here, even temporarily, given the circumstances. I needn’t have been so apprehensive though, the people seem far more concerned about rebuilding than pointing fingers.
